The heating elements in Mica thermic heaters are similar to those in convection heaters except that in Mica thermic heaters, the heating elements consist of panels covered in mica sheets, which serve as an excellent heat conductor.

Mica causes the production of electromagnetic rays. When mica is heated to a certain temperature, the electromagnetic rays produced are dispersed into the surrounding space, heating up that space. Radiant heaters are ideal for heating up smaller spaces but are unable to convey sufficient heat to larger areas. If there is a slight draft entering the room or if the room is not properly insulated, a radiant heater may not do enough to keep the space warm. However, a mica heater can generate fast and efficient heating to large areas.

Convective heaters are good at heating up large spaces. However, they do not operate as efficiently as Mica thermic heaters. Convective heaters use an element to generate heat. After the element is heated, a blower disperses heat into the surrounding area. This method of heating up the ambient air takes a considerable amount of time. A properly insulated room and no draft coming in are necessary conditions to ensure a convective heater sufficiently heats up a space. Mica heaters, on the other hand, heat up large areas and do so quickly.
